DSL Constitution

  1. League Basics
    1. This league is known as the Digital Sportsball League, or DSL for short.
    2. The DSL will be hosted on Sleeper.
    3. $30 annual buy-in ($30×12=$360)
      1. Payouts
        1. Champion – $200
        2. Runner-Up – $100
        3. Regular Season Points Leader – $50
        4. Commissioner – $10 (to help offset cost of Funko Pop)
    4. Each season’s champion will receive a funko Pop of a player on his/her team. (Winner’s choice)
  2. League Scheduling
    1. The DSL consists of 12 teams.
    2. Each team will play a 14-week regular season.
    3. The schedule will be determined by FootballGuys.com’s scheduling feature.
    4. Playoffs will consist of six teams, with the top two seeds receiving first round byes.
    5. Playoffs will run in weeks 15, 16, and 17.
    6. Playoff teams will re-seed after the first round.
  1. Start-Up Draft
    1. The start-up draft will begin May 28th, 2021 at 6pm EST
    2. This will be a slow draft (8hr timer).
      1. The timer will be switched to 24hrs overnight to allow for sleepy times and for degenerates to still make picks.
      2. I will switch the timer back to the 8hr limit when I get up the following morning.
    3. The draft will be hosted on Sleeper.
    4. There will be 27 rounds.
    5. There will be no formal gathering for the start-up draft.
    6. The draft order will be determined at random using a method I have yet to decide on. TBD
    7. As always, the order in which your name is pulled will determine your pick priority.
      1. First person pulled will have first dibs on where they want to draft, second person will have second choice, etc… , until all twelve draft spots are filled.
    8. If, for whatever reason, even with an 8 hour pick timer, a manager can’t make a pick in time, he/she must let me know so I can assign the desired player to your team, else be subjected to the auto-draft Gods.
    9. No proxy drafting will be allowed, given the lengthy timer.
    10. Trading will be allowed during the draft.
  1. Rookie Drafts
    1. Beginning in year two of the DSL, a rookie only draft will be held on the last Saturday each May.
    2. Rookie drafts will consist of four rounds.
    3. Pick timer – 5 minutes
    4. The rookie draft is linear, just like the NFL draft.
      1. IE – The manager with pick 1.07 also has 2.07, 3.07, and 4.07
    5. Draft order will be inverse order of the MAX POSSIBLE POINTS from the previous season.
      1. This is to prevent blatant tanking.
        1. IE – Sitting your best players to lose intentionally.
      2. Using this method will reveal who the most needy teams really are.
    6. The previous rule will not apply to the Championship participants.
      1. League runner-up will have the 11th pick
      2. League champion will have the 12th pick.
    7. While it is not necessary, I would like to hold a live, in-person, rookie draft to have a reason to get the league all together at least once a year.
  2. Roster Composition
    1. Each team will have 30 roster positions available.
      1. 24 active (Starters + Bench), 3 IR, 3 Taxi
    2. Each team will start 10 players.
      1. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex RB/WR/TE, 1 SuperFlex QB/RB/WR/TE
    3. There are 14 bench spots.
    4. There are 3 IR spots.
      1. Only players that are actually on IR are eligible to be placed here. With the deep rosters, there is no need to allow “Out” players in these positions.
    5. There are 3 Taxi Squad spots.
      1. Only rookies and second year players are eligible for these spots.
      2. Once a player is promoted from your taxi squad, he can not be placed back into it.
      3. Promoting a taxi squad player may mean an active player needs to be released to meet the 24 active player limit.
      4. Managers have until the first game of the season to decide what players they will place in their taxi squad. Players may be moved into and out of the taxi spots freely prior to the start of the season.
      5. Once a player enters his third year of play, the manager must decide to promote the player to the active roster or drop him.
      6. For more information on taxi squads, reference this.
    6. There are no positional limits. If you want to roster 12 TEs, by all means, go crazy.
  3. Scoring Settings
    1. Offense:
      1. Passing Yards: .04 pts per yard
        Passing Touchdowns: 4 points
        Interceptions: -2 points
Rushing Yards: .1 pts per yard
        Rushing Touchdowns: 6 points
        Receptions: .5 point per reception
Reception Yards: .1 pts per yard
        Reception Touchdowns: 6 points
        Return Touchdowns: 6 points
        2-Point Conversions: 2 points
        Fumbles Lost: -2 points
Offensive Fumble Return TD: 6 points
  4. Roster Transactions
    1. Trades
      1. No trades can be completed following week 11’s games each NFL season.
      2. Trading may resume once I reactivate the league after the actual NFL Superbowl has concluded.
      3. All trades are fair game. Players, rookie picks, and FAAB are all eligible trade assets.
      4. There is no trade review period or veto process.
      5. Trades will only be reverted if there is obvious collusion between managers or there is a clear mistake made by a manager.
      6. If there is a clear mistake made in a trade, each manager must let me know the trade needs to be reverted.
      7. Rookie picks up to 3 years in advance may be traded.
      8. Sleeper also allows for multi-team trading. Go crazy.
    2. Waivers
      1. Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) will be used to bid on waiver pickups.
      2. Each manager will have $100 to spend on waiver pickups for the league year.
      3. FAAB is set back to $100 when the league is reactivated for the next season.
      4. If two managers bid an equal amount on a free agent, the manager with higher waiver priority will win the player.
      5. Waivers will run at 9AM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
      6. Waivers will not run on Monday. Managers may still bid on free agents Sunday afternoon through Monday night, but waivers will not process until Tuesday at 9AM.
  1. Roster Management
    1. All league members are required to manage their rosters on their own.
    2. If a member cannot access his roster in time, a manager may contact the commissioner and have the commissioner make requested changes as long as games have not begun and the commissioner has the immediate time and access to do so. The deadline to contact the commissioner and ask for roster changes is kickoff.
    3. Don’t forget to set your lineups. A league is only as fun as the members make it. Stay active, set your lineups.
  2. Manager Replacement
    1. At the Commissioner’s discretion, a manager may be kicked from the league for:
      1.  Team abandonment
        1. In the event of team abandonment mid-season, after a member is removed from the league, that member’s team will be considered a Win for every remaining opponent.
        2. Additionally, I will add retroactive Wins to teams the vacant roster played against earlier in the season.
        3. Please don’t quit mid-season. It’d be a huge pain in the ass.
  1.  Collusion.
    1. Collusion won’t be tolerated. It’s a one and done offense. Collude and get kicked.
  2.  Poor gameday roster management:
    1. If the Commissioner notices a league member hasn’t stayed active and set lineups, whether it be benching bye week or injured players, etc., then I’ll contact you and tell you to get your head out of your ass and play the game, else be booted from the league. Don’t be this person.
  3. Unpaid league dues
    1. If a manager fails to pay league dues by season’s end, then they will be replaced the following year.
  1. In the event that a member leaves the league or is removed, a new manager will be chosen by the Commissioner. Suggestions for new members are welcome.
  2. If a manager needs time away from the league, for whatever reason, but wants to maintain a spot in the league for the future, the manager may talk to the commissioner about temporarily assigning your team to someone else for that time period. Once you are ready to return, I’ll hand the controls back to you.
  1.  League Dues
    1. The league entry fee of $30 is due prior to the draft every year.
    2. A manager will be allowed to draft if dues are unpaid, but the roster will remain locked until payment is made.
      1. No waiver pickups, trading, setting lineups, etc.
    3. If a future draft pick is traded, then the full league dues for that manager must be paid for the corresponding years.
      1. Example: Mid season 2021
        1. Player A trades Dalvin Cook to Player B
        2. Player B trades 2022 and 2023 first round picks.
        3. Player B owes $30 for each future year’s lost pick. So $60 total for that trade for Player B. These need to be paid ASAP after a trade involving picks.
        4. This rule ensures that if a manager leaves the league, and is without future draft picks, then a new member will be more inclined to accept the invite to manage an orphan team with no picks.
  2.  A Final Note
    1. Because we’ve fantasy footballed together for a while now, I’m comfortable with putting in the effort to make team logos/org designs for everyone. If anyone more tech savvy than me wants to contribute, feel free to talk to me about it. Hoping to get this stuff done before the season starts.
